Glossary
What the words mean: GC, protection zone, calling, combat level, Legendary, tool belt, Field notes, waystone, PK skull and more.
The words the game and this encyclopedia use, in a few plain sentences each.
- Aggressive
A creature that attacks on sight, when you come near. It leaves alone anyone more than twice its level (your combat level against its own), unless you strike it first. The others fight only when attacked.
- Boss
The greatest fights: the dragons in their lairs, and the Pharaoh and the sand dragon in the desert tombs. Their attacks light up the ground first, and everyone who helps gets a loot roll of their own.
- Calling
What you fight as: knight, ranger or mage. It decides your first weapon, how your health and mana grow and which spells are yours; every skill is open to every calling. You may change it once, while your combat level is 15 or lower.
- Character level
Grows only with experience from defeating creatures (and from quests), and with it your health, mana and walking speed. Level 2 comes at 40 experience, level 10 at 29,160. A death can cost experience, but never a level.
- Combat level
How strong a fighter you are, the number by your portrait: twice your character level, plus twice your best fighting skill (Melee, Archery or Magic), plus Blocking, all divided by three. Compare it with a creature’s level; gear, food and spells matter too.
- Field notes
The card in the corner of your screen with the next step of the story you follow, and ideas for what to do next: a first hunt, a place to visit, food for the road. Hide it and bring it back whenever you like.
- GC (gold coins)
Gold coins, the currency of Pixlaria: every price is in GC. Shops pay them for what you sell, creatures drop them, and every quest pays some.
- Heartland
The hand-made middle of the world round Pixlaria Town: common ground for everyone, where nobody claims land or builds. Out past its edge, the land is anyone’s to settle.
- Keepsake
A gift from a story’s giver (Henry’s second-best hat, the Head cook’s hat, the dragonling, the sun scarab). No shop buys it and it cannot be traded, and the giver gives you another if you lose it.
- Pet pouch
A pocket for each of your 5 kinds of companion, under the tool belt. Click a pet there to call it or send it home; it takes no bag space and stays with you if you fall.
- PK skull
The mark an attack on another player outside the Northreach Wilds once earned. Players now fight only in the Wilds, where no skull is given; one earned before runs out on its own, as your status shows.
- Protection zone
Ground where nobody can fight, creature or player: the town square and its buildings, the evening fires, Honeybrook, Tidewell and the greens of the Settlers’ Meadows. A safe place to trade, bank and talk.
- Rare, Exceptional, Legendary, Mythic
How special a find is. A gold star over a pile on the ground marks one, and the pile’s menu shows it first. Rare: silver gear, the better bows and staffs, dragon scales, and anything worth 250 GC or more that a creature seldom leaves (Maplecrest bow and Yewthorn bow…); Exceptional: gold weapons, armour and tools, and the finest bows and staffs (Sunheart bow and Sunweave staff…); Legendary: the rare sets and the reinforced and royal gold, never sold and never made, found only on the hardest creatures (Reinforced gold helmet and Reinforced gold chainmail…); Mythic: never sold and never made, found only, and very seldom, on the oldest dragons and the Pharaoh (Dawnforged sword and Dawnforged greatsword…). A Legendary or Mythic find is told to everyone online.
- Stack
Things of one kind in one bag space. What you gather (logs, ore, raw fish and stone) comes in stacks of 100, one to a bag space, and the work stops each time a stack fills: click again for the next.
- Tool belt
A place for each of your 8 kinds of tool (axe, pickaxe, nets, rods and the rest), under the bag. A tool there works as if carried, takes no bag space and stays with you if you fall.
- Total level
All 14 skill levels added together, up to 1,386: how far you have come in everything, not how strong you fight. Each skill goes from 1 to 99.
- Townward
The spell that carries you to the town square from anywhere: say “hemma” (Magic 12, 50 mana). Not while something is fighting you, and once every three minutes.
- Waystone
A standing stone you build by your home (Carpentry 6; one to a person). Say “runa” (Waystone, Magic 14) and you are carried back to it from anywhere, when nothing is fighting you.
