Find the Dragon Field

The Dragon Field lies south-west of the town square, between the two roads south, below the Kitchen and above the southern lake: a paved launch circle, two tall perches with a young dragon resting on each, pennants and benches. Sigrun, Dragon Trainer stands by the way in from the south road, beside her map of the world. You need combat level 10 to fly.

Choose where

  1. Talk to Sigrun and choose I would like to fly. Her map of the whole world opens: the land you have walked as you charted it, the rest as the dragons know it.
  2. The rings round the field show the prices: 250 coins, 500 coins, 750 coins, 1,000 coins. Tap or click any place, and the panel shows the price, about how long you will be in the air, and which way it lies. Choose another place as often as you like.
  3. Choose Fly.

The price is by distance: 120 coins for a thousand tiles, never under 100 coins, and about 1,000 coins to the Jungle Isles. Your first flight is free. A place nearer than 150 tiles is a walk.

Where the dragon sets you down

As near the place you chose as it can, on firm ground: out on the water, on the nearest land; never in the water, on a speck of an island you could not leave, under the caves’ rock or on another player’s plot (your own is fine). It looks for a spot with room to land beside you. Choose a place in the Northreach Wilds and the panel warns you: any player may fight you there.

The ride

You walk to the launch circle as a young dragon glides down from its perch, climb into the saddle and rise over the town. High up you see the world to the horizon; a card at the top (at the bottom on a phone) says where you are headed and how long is left, and the minimap goes with the dragon. Drag (or hold Q and E) to look about; the view comes back behind the dragon when you let go.

  • Nothing can reach you in the air: no creature, no player, no fire.
  • You can chat, whisper, look at your map and sort your bag, but not walk, fight or use anything.
  • Everyone below sees you go over.
  • If you log out or lose your connection in the air, you are set down where you were going.

At the end you hop down beside the place you chose and the dragon flies home to the field. It does not wait: walk home, or say hemma (Townward) to return to the square.
