Level 160 boss · 56,000 health · Winterglass Sanctum · Three to five adventurers recommended
Winterglass Sanctum
Look for the signed northern cave near −967, −1979, deep in the snowy north. Its ladder opens into a safe, lamp-lit vestibule; the round chamber to the north belongs to Rimebound. Bring a light and supplies. Three to five well-prepared adventurers are recommended, but there is no required calling or formal party membership. Parties hold up to five members, and additional helpers share the same encounter rather than receiving extra reward rolls. Players cannot attack one another here.
The frozen crown
56,000 health · Armour 30 · Defence 35. Its frost hammer deals 85–165 before your defences. Warning damage uses the same adjusted-health rule as other major bosses: half the extra base health above balanced Ranger training is excluded, preserving the benefit of health-focused training. Equipment health remains included. Armour reduces these warning hits slightly.
- Frozen hammer: a broad forward cone locks onto the floor for 1.8 seconds. Step out of the marked tiles before its 38% adjusted-health hit. Turning afterward does not move the warning.
- Frozen lanes: alternating frozen lanes warn for 2.3 seconds, then strike marked tiles for 34% of adjusted health. Step sideways into the gaps. Ice-lane attacks continue during the rime-seal phase.
- Rime seals: two seals shield the crown for up to 18 seconds. Rimebound takes only 20% damage while shielded. Split up and destroy both seals; any weapon works. They have 1,800 health each and give no separate loot, experience or contribution credit. Breaking both seals exposes the crown for 11 seconds, giving 40% extra damage.
- Frostmarks: every reachable fighter receives a fixed three-by-three warning at their current position. Move out before 2.4 seconds; overlapping marks hit only once. Spread out beforehand to keep escape routes open. A distant main target also receives a marked ice lance; staying at range cannot avoid the encounter.
- If seals remain: they disappear, the shield ends, and the outer ring warns for 3.2 seconds. Move into the unmarked inner safe circle near the crown; remaining outside takes 50% adjusted-health damage.
Warnings keep their full dodge time as the fight speeds up below 65% and 30% health. A shield fighter can use Challenge to draw close blows, a mender can repair actual injuries, and damage specialists can split the seals. These are useful choices, not compulsory roles. Retreat south to the ladder whenever needed. If every fighter leaves, pending attacks are cancelled; if every fighter leaves or falls for 10 seconds, its health and contribution reset. Attacks from the vestibule, boats or cliffs do not damage it. Building and Bank Box are disabled inside the sanctum.
One shared hoard
Item eligibility requires 3% of full boss health in contribution: 1,680 work. Damage to Rimebound counts, plus half of effective healing of other fighters' injuries caused by Rimebound. Overhealing, self-healing and unrelated injuries give no support credit. Passive proximity and a small last-second tag do not qualify for items. Qualified helpers receive shares weighted by actual work; weaker contributions still remain in the denominator, so they cannot inflate another player's share.
One victory rolls 2000–2800 coins, 9–12 mushroom broth, 9–12 greater health potions and 9–12 greater mana potions for the whole encounter. The cosmetic Rimebound crown has one chance in 20 per encounter, with one contribution-weighted recipient at most. Build it into a Rimebound trophy for your home; it gives no combat bonus. More players never multiply the hoard or the character-XP pool. Earned character XP is split by work, with the ordinary combat-level reward adjustment.
The rare Rimeglass crossbow has one chance in 120 per victory for the whole encounter, with at most one contribution-weighted recipient. Requires Archery 85, with 62 ranged attack and the usual 2.8-second reload. Its wound delivers the same final quarter of shot damage over four seconds instead of six. This equipment roll is separate from the decorative trophy.
Collect at the crown altar
After victory, stand within 3 tiles of the central Winterglass altar, on foot and out of combat, and choose Collect rewards. Earned XP, Journal credit and items persist through death, logout and server restarts. A full bag does not lose your share: XP and Journal credit can be collected, and unfitted items wait for another visit. Collection cannot pay twice. The sovereign can return 30 minutes after defeat.

Ordinary items, coins and rare finds come from one shared hoard. Contribution determines your share or your chance to receive a single item; the 3% threshold grants eligibility, not a full extra roll. Drop rolls are chances, not a promise per trip. Defeat it to record it in your in-game Creature Journal.
