Quest 17 of 19 in the Journal · From Nessa’s ferry notice · Siltstep Landing, Crooked Bell Station, The High-water Office

How to start

Read Nessa’s notice at Siltstep Landing.

What you need

  • Prepare for dangerous wetland creatures on the journey to the Drowned Fens. Combat 100 is recommended; the investigation itself requires no fighting.

Step by step

  1. Service suspended: insufficient river. Find Siltstep Landing in the Drowned Fens. Ferry keeper Nessa needs someone to explain why the route bell still calls for a crossing. Dangerous wetland creatures live nearby; this investigation requires no fighting.
  2. A bell is not an argument. Read the signal plate at Crooked Bell Station. Work out what its old markings meant before assuming the crossing is safe.
  3. The river has left no forwarding address. Compare the dated water records in the High-water Office. Find a route that the records actually support.
  4. Retire the timetable, keep the crossing. Return to the bell post with the ledger’s route. Leave a clear direction for walkers, keeping the old unsafe-channel warning.
  5. One crossing. No rowing.. Return to Siltstep Landing with the route notes. Nessa can retire the ferry timetable without retiring the crossing.

What you get

  • 2,500 GC
  • +2,000 experience
  • +5,000 Exploration experience
How it ends

The river had silted up, but the crossing still mattered. You checked the signal, copied the inspected raised-bank route, and kept the warning about the soft channel. Nessa received your notes. You earned 2,500 coins, Exploration XP and character experience, and kept a ferry ticket amended to “WALK — oars optional”.
