How to start

Ask Tariq, at the watch post on Sunshade’s south-west edge, about the watch.

Click Tariq to talk (or right-click and choose Talk-to; on a phone, long-press), then choose “Can I help with the watch?”. “New quest”, the game says: your Journal and your Field notes keep track of it from then on.

What you need

• Two logs from any tree, and a tinderbox in your bag (every newcomer carries one).
• The way to Sunshade, far to the west at the edge of the deep desert, past Kingsrest: trolls and goblin brutes roam the country round it.

Step by step

1. Blind on the way home. Tariq keeps the watch at Sunshade, the last village before the Sun Gate, far to the west at the edge of the deep desert. His post is on the village’s south-west edge, facing the Gate across the water. Ask him about the watch.
2. Two watch fires. Anyone who comes up the Sun Gate’s steps after dark walks home towards Sunshade blind. Light both braziers at Tariq’s watch post: with a tinderbox in your bag, use a log on each.
3. One fire to go. The north brazier at Tariq’s watch post burns. Light the south one: use a log on it, with a tinderbox in your bag.
4. One fire to go. The south brazier at Tariq’s watch post burns. Light the north one: use a log on it, with a tinderbox in your bag.
