Hold On to Your Hats

How to start

Talk to Old Henry, outside the temple at the north end of the square.

Click Old Henry to talk (or right-click and choose Talk-to; on a phone, long-press), then choose “Can I help find your hat?”. “New quest”, the game says: your Journal and your Field notes keep track of it from then on.

What you need

• 3 × Planks for a hive box: an axe from Honeybrook’s store, logs from any tree, and the sawbench beside the old oak (a log saws into two planks, Carpentry 1).
• A tinderbox and a log, for a small fire beside the oak (Firemaking 1).
• A Pheasant feather: catch a pheasant (level 2) in the Pheasant Meadow, just west of town.

Step by step

1. Old Henry has lost his hat. Old Henry stands outside the temple at the north end of the town square. He swears a dragon took his hat, and nobody believes him. Talk to him and offer to help.
2. Ask the Painter. Somebody must have seen a green felt hat go up over the square. Ask the Painter at the paint shop, on the north-east corner of the square: nothing crosses that sky without being painted.
3. West to Honeybrook. The Painter saw something green tumble out of the sky, west over the Honeybrook road. Follow the road west to Honeybrook and ask the Beekeeper, by the campfire among the hives. Take some food.
4. Planks for a hive box. The hat is a beehive now, in the old oak on Honeybrook's east side, and the bees will only leave it for a better home. Bring the Beekeeper three planks: buy an axe at Honeybrook's store and chop three logs from an ordinary tree (oaks need Woodcutting 15). Saw two of them at the sawbench beside the old oak (a log makes two planks), and keep the third for a fire.
5. Smoke them across. The hive box waits beneath the old oak on Honeybrook's east side. Stand beside the oak and light a small fire: right-click the logs in your bag and choose Light Logs (chop another from an ordinary tree if you have none left). The smoke eases the bees down into their new box, and the hat is yours.
6. A feather for the band. Old Henry's hat is back: sticky, smelling of honey, and missing its feather. Pheasants keep to the Pheasant Meadow, in the grass beside the Honeybrook road just west of town (it is on your map). Walk up to one: it sits tight until you are close, then bursts up and runs, so click it to catch it, and it will most likely drop a tail feather. Then use the feather on the hat, or bring both to Old Henry.
7. Hold on to your hats. Take the hat home to Old Henry, outside the temple at the north end of the square.
