Quest 8 of 9 in the Journal · From Salty Pete
How to start
Ask Salty Pete, in Bellhaven (a fishing village far to the south-west, across the water), about First Try.
Click Salty Pete to talk (or right-click and choose Talk-to; on a phone, long-press), then choose “What happened to First Try?”. “New quest”, the game says: your Journal and your Field notes keep track of it from then on.
What you need
- The way to Bellhaven, a fishing village far to the south-west, across the water (a rowing boat of eight logs crosses water).
- A shipwreck on a beach, and its old sea chest: Salty Pete, or any village’s local, points you to the nearest.
Step by step
- Do not ask about First Try. Salty Pete, the local of Bellhaven, a fishing village far to the south-west across the water, calls his boat Second Try and asks you not to ask about First Try. Ask him anyway.
- A bell in a wreck. First Try went down chasing a very large fish, and Salty Pete's grandmother's brass bell went down with her. The sea gives wrecks back to the beaches: find one (Salty Pete, or any village local, will point you to the nearest sight) and open its old sea chest.
- Ring it at the pier. You have First Try's brass bell, green at the edges and still ringing true. Take it back to Salty Pete, in Bellhaven.
What you get
- Sea rod (more coins in its place if you have one already)
- 250 GC
- +1,500 experience
- +500 Fishing experience
How it ends
First Try's bell hangs at the pier again, and Salty Pete rings it every evening.
