Quest 9 of 19 in the Journal · From Captain Brindle’s sea chest · Broken Compass Shoal, Lantern Cove, Gullwatch Isle
How to start
Sail to Broken Compass Shoal, then search the chest beside the wreck.
What you need
- A boat and food for the journey. Combat 15 is recommended; the investigation itself requires no fighting.
Step by step
- A promising wreck. Take a boat south of Pioneeria, beyond Seal Horn Light, to Broken Compass Shoal. Search the sea chest beside the wreck. Combat 15 is recommended for the journey, but there is no level gate or required fight at the three discovery sites. Bring food.
- Navigation by biscuit. Read the captain’s entry beside the wreck. Work out which landmark he used after his compass failed.
- A camp with standards. Sail south-southwest to Lantern Cove. Enter its eastern inlet and examine the old camp beside the lantern. The crew left their clue where spray could not reach it.
- The first mate’s amendment. Turn over the repair drawing at Lantern Cove. The first mate has corrected the captain’s treasure instructions.
- A little light engineering. Sail east to Gullwatch Isle and inspect the lighthouse mechanism. The drawing shows the long shutter arm facing the dawn: east. You need no tools or Firemaking level.
- An honest fortune. Open the lockbox below Gullwatch’s light. The crew have already been paid: Nell left a finder’s share for whoever recovered the route. Make room for a Sea rod; the reward waits if your bag is full.
What you get
- Sea rod
- 800 GC
- +1,200 experience
- +1,200 Exploration experience
- +300 Carpentry experience
How it ends
Nell paid the crew, the lighthouse kept its light, and Captain Brindle found a profession with fewer rocks in it. You recovered the route and received 800 coins, a Sea rod, Exploration and Carpentry experience. Your chart remains in this journal. The captain has labelled it “Almost Entirely Accurate”.
