Quest 9 of 16 in the Journal · From Gunnar · Bellhaven
How to start
Ask Gunnar, at the diggers’ forge in Bellhaven, what troubles the diggers.
Click Gunnar to talk (or right-click and choose Talk-to; on a phone, long-press), then choose “What troubles the diggers?”. “New quest”, the game says: your Journal and your Field notes keep track of it from then on.
What you need
- 2 × Iron bar: iron ore from the stony field south of Bellhaven (Mining 15), smelted at Gunnar’s furnace or any other (Smithing 15; iron sometimes burns to slag while you learn).
- The way to Bellhaven, far to the south-west across the water, as for Salty Pete’s story.
Step by step
- The diggers come up in the dark. Gunnar keeps the diggers’ forge at Bellhaven, the fishing hamlet far to the south-west across the water, at the edge of the stony field the diggers work. Ask him what troubles the diggers.
- Two iron bars. The diggers come up out of the field after dark, and last winter one walked into the lake. Gunnar will forge a lamp for the field’s edge from two iron bars. Mine iron ore in the stony field south of the forge (Mining 15) and smelt it at his furnace (Smithing 15), then bring him the bars.
- Hang it at the field’s edge. Gunnar forged the lamp, black iron with a brass hook. Hang it on the post at the edge of the diggings, down the path past his forge: right-click the lamp, choose Use, and click the post.
What you get
- 120 GC
- +700 experience
- +350 Smithing experience
How it ends
Gunnar's lamp hangs at the edge of Bellhaven's diggings, and it is lit every evening for the diggers coming up in the dark.
