- Gather logs and saw planks. Build a claim stake on a permitted clear site. Choose the plot’s size in the build window, from 8 × 8 up to what your Carpentry allows (24 × 24 at first, 32 at Carpentry 10, 40 at 25): it starts at the largest that fits, and a size that does not fit says why, with what stands in the way shown red on the ground: the heartland’s common ground, a town, a protection zone or another player’s plot. Change the size later under Plot access.
- Lay a floor, then enclose it with walls, doors and windows. Enclosed rooms receive a roof.
- Add furniture and lighting: an indoor lamp unlocks at Carpentry 5 and a cooking stove at 12. Stoves use the normal cooking recipes and require a chef’s hat. Buy colours from the Paint shop to personalise supported pieces.
Floors visually meet adjacent walls regardless of which you build first. For a porch fence you built beside a wall, choose Fit to wall to extend its rails to the wall. Choose Detach from wall to separate it again; fitting is optional and leaves doorways open.
Town greens, roads and other reserved spaces remain clear. Muggfield and the other settlers’ meadows give you places to begin looking for a home.
At a hidden corner, choose Choose nearby building tile from the wall or build menu. The small north-up plan lets you select the exact tile through an obstructing wall and explains why a tile is blocked.
For supported furniture, walls, doors, windows, fences and gates you built, choose Move, pick a nearby tile, then confirm. Floors, paint and rotation are preserved and no materials are spent. A wall, door, window, fence or gate moves by the rules for building it there, from beside the tile; move a door onto one of your walls and the two swap places. Planted garden beds, claim stakes, waystones and boats stay where they are.
Open Plot access at your claim stake or in Friends. Enter a character name and choose Allow building & dismantling to approve them for that plot. Revoke removes that permission immediately, including permission to dismantle pieces they built there. Existing plots start owner-only; approvals persist separately from friendship. Only the owner can manage approvals or remove the stake. Land permissions protect other players’ builds. Make or review private plot offers from a player-built door, wall, window, fence or claim stake using View property, or through Friends → Plot offers. Claims lapse after 45 days without the owner logging in.
