Steel plates over sturdy boots. Adds 4 armour, with no movement-speed bonus. Requires Combat 30. Forge a pair from two steel bars at an anvil.

Armour and shields work together against physical monster attacks, with diminishing returns. Better armour reduces damage, but heavy blows can still hurt. Armour is a protection rating, not a fixed amount subtracted from every hit. Spells and player attacks use different protection rules.

At an anvil, Smithing 30: 2 × Steel bar → 1 × Steel armoured boots (base yield, before skill bonuses). 52.5 Smithing XP per completed recipe at the current game rate, before late-level reductions.

Sell: 180 GC at the Smithy (work of the anvil); 150 GC at the Kitchen; 120 GC at the General store. Buying and selling prices differ.
