Crafting

Use a sewing bench for leather armour and robes, or a sawbench for bows, staves, crossbows, wands and focuses. At an anvil, choose Craft rings and bring a hammer and one coal per ring as forge fuel. Bring your own materials.

Getting started

Public sewing benches are inside starter-town general stores, which sell plain cloth and thread. Sawbenches and anvils stand near smithies. Hunt hides, pelts and silk; gather timber and smelt bars for equipment and rings. At Carpentry 40, build an artisan’s workbench at home to make wooden equipment and sewn gear together, with the same requirements, materials, times and XP. Rings still use an anvil.

Turn gathered and hunted supplies into portable equipment for yourself or other players. Wear one ring for a small health or mana bonus; equipping restores nothing. Rare found gear remains a hunting reward. Smithing makes metal weapons, armour and ammunition; Carpentry makes building materials, furniture, structures and boats.

Why train it?

Begin with a Shortbow, Emberwood staff or Bronze band at Crafting 1, and leather and Apprentice pieces at 1–3. Studded leather and Adept robes open at 12, 16 and 20. Silver, gold and twinmetal rings open at 25, 40 and 45. Stronger weapons open up to 80. Every completed piece gives fixed XP; there are no failed crafts.

Make equipment to keep or trade. At full NPC prices, these recipes sell for less than their materials are worth. Cloth and thread cost coins too; compare the whole recipe with buying a finished piece. Making and wearing equipment have separate requirements.

Maximum level: 99. Open Skills in the game to see your current XP and next goal.
