Soulbound equipment

Bind a piece of your own gear to yourself for good: a little stronger, and never to change hands.

Browse encyclopedia chapters

Any weapon, shield, piece of armour, boots, cape, amulet or ring with combat stats can be soulbound by the adventurer who holds it. Right-click it in your bag, or where you wear it in the Gear window, and choose Soulbind…. A window says what the binding adds and what it gives up, and nothing changes until you confirm. Binding asks for a quiet moment: finish your fight first.

What it adds

A tenth more of each of its combat stats, rounded, and always at least 1 more on its main stat: attack, ranged attack, bolt attack, shield defence, armour, bonus attack, maximum health and mana, and spell damage. What it takes to wear stays the same. The Gear window, the hover and Examine show the raised stats, with a small Soulbound tag by its name.

For example, a steel sword’s attack of 22 becomes 24, a steel chainmail’s armour of 10 becomes 11, and a steel shield’s defence of 15 becomes 17.

What it gives up

  • It can never be traded, staked in a duel, sold to a shop, listed on the Town Market, left in a sharing chest or put in guild storage.
  • It cannot be dropped for someone else, salvaged at an anvil or used up in a recipe, such as a studded upgrade.
  • A binding cannot be undone.

What stays yours

A soulbound piece stays with you when you fall, in the Northreach Isle danger zone too, and is never anyone’s loot. Wear it, carry it, or keep it in your own bank or storage chest. If you no longer want it, choose Destroy… in its bag menu, and it is gone for good.

Each binding is its own: two iron swords are two pieces, and only the one you bind is soulbound. Tools such as axes and pickaxes, arrows and bolts, story items and keepsakes cannot be soulbound. Oathbound adventurers may soulbind their own gear as anyone may.
